As I walked my dog this morning, before dawn, the frost glittered on the grass. I began thinking about the gifts I get as a result of being an early riser. I get the quiet solitude of being the only one awake in my apartment. I get those productive hours without interruption.
I get not only glittering grass, but a glint of light from a sun just below the horizon. I get the stillness just before nature is fully awake.
I get another day.
We had an unseasonably warm holiday season here, which only spoiled me. As I was choosing my subject for this week’s challenge, this photo took me back to autumn for a moment. Taken back in October with my iPhone 5S. Sally D’s Mobile Photography Challenge, Week 1: Nature.
Although it is a cloudy day, I know spring has sprung. My backyard is covered in violets today.
Both of these were taken with my iPhone 5S. Phoneography and Non-SLR Digital Devices Photo Challenge, Week 1: Nature.
I snapped this fellow when I stopped by a friend’s house the other day. He just seemed to pose for me, so I got out my phone. Taken with my iPhone 5S. Phoneography and Non-SLR Digital Devices Photo Challenge, Week 1: Nature.
Pardon the play on words, or should I say punctuation? It was what came to mind when I saw the photo. This was taken several months ago at the local zoo.
These are just a few of the living things I have run across this week. (Well, I nearly ran over the frog.) The rest I saw in various places (bathroom, dashboard of the car, front yard). I still haven’t managed to get any good shots of birds… they always fly away just as I get focused.
Frog (in the dark).
Hitchin’ a ride.
On one of my many walks, I found this beetle “hanging out.” Taken with my iPhone 5S. Phoneography and Non-SLR Digital Devices Photo Challenge, Week 2: Macro.
It seems when I am out walking, I see things in themes. Today’s theme was tree trunks. Taken with my iPhone 5S. Phoneography and Non-SLR Digital Devices Photo Challenge, Week 1: Nature.
